Installing Google Earth in Ubuntu is quite easy because there are .deb packages available for download in Google website. All Ubuntu users have to do is grab a .deb package and install it via Ubuntu Software Center.
However, the 64-bit .deb package requires ia32-libs, while the package is not available in Ubuntu 15.04 repositories.
The correct way to install these ia32-libs required package in 64-bit Ubuntu is to simply install the 32-bit package as well as its 32-bit dependencies, that’s how multiarch works.
Install Google Earth 7 in Ubuntu 15.04:
1. Select download “32 bit .deb (For Debian/Ubuntu)” from Google website, or at the link below:2. For 32-bit user, just click the .deb package to open with Ubuntu Software Center and install it.
3. For 64-bit user, open terminal from the Dash, Application Menu, or by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard. When it opens, run below command to install dependencies:
sudo apt-get install libfontconfig1:i386 libx11-6:i386 libxrender1:i386 libxext6:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 libglu1-mesa:i386 libglib2.0-0:i386 libsm6:i386
4. In file browser, right-click on the 32-bit .deb package you downloaded in step 1 and choose “open with Ubuntu Software Center”. When it opens, click install Google Earth:
When done, you should be able to launch the software from the Dash. Enjoy!
